The Thin No Longer Expanding One

Joining Luke and Pete on stage for their debut show as The Union on December 15th at the Relentless Garage will be ex - Thunder bassist Chris Childs and Quireboys drummer Phil Martini. Says Luke; 'Chris is the best bass player I've ever worked with as well as being a very close friend so it's great we can continue working together, albeit in a different guise.'

'I watched Phil playing with QB's when they opened for Thunder during our last tour and thought he was a great, uncomplicated, groove-based drummer so we're both delighted he's available. We all got together for an afternoon's rehearsal a few weeks ago and it was as good as we hoped it would be so we're really looking forward to the gig on the 15th now!

The Thin Better Late Then Never One ;)

Yes peeps, incredible as it may seem, the whole lot have gone....AGAIN!!

Sales have continued to be off the scale since the release and it's showing no signs of slowing down!!

Yet again, more have been ordered, but they won’t be delivered to us until sometime around November 25th. Any orders placed that we are unable to fulfil immediately will be sent out as soon as we have the new stock! Alternatively you could wait until new stock is in place before you order.

Sorry for any disappointment caused, but this title continues to sell in a way that we could not have possibly predicted.

The Still Thin, Amazed & Flabbergasted One

Thunder Shop has been receiving a lot of queries from customers, all wondering when their orders will arrive.

We struggled to cope initially, so extra staff were brought in to help cope with the demand for the new DVD.

We’re pleased to say that order processing and despatch on 90% of Thunder Shop items is being achieved normally within 24 hours from receipt of order.

Unfortunately, the strike action by Royal Mail postal workers in the UK is having a devastating effect on deliveries. In some cases, orders have taken several weeks to arrive, even in the UK! A far higher proportion than usual have simply disappeared. It would appear the problem is going to get worse.

We are working towards bringing in another delivery solution, to offer as an alternative to the lottery that is Royal Mail. We’ll announce details of this as soon as we have it confirmed.

The Thin All Stamped Out One

So, by now I expect that you are all extremely excited about the new project from Luke Morley and Peter Shoulder – The Union….

The band will be playing their very first show in London in mid December. It will be a very intimate affair and a very special night for everyone that attends. The show will also be filmed for a special DVD, which will be released with the debut album next year!

As I’m sure you will be aware, there will be lots of people that want to be there, but only a few will be able to get in…..”So, how do we get in?” I hear you cry…it’s quite simple really…

To be in with a chance of attending the show you just have to make sure that you are signed up for the bands mailing list. The Thin Wondering If He’ll Get In One…

Dear All,

You may already know about Thunder’s commitment to the wonderful Charity that is Childline through our involvement in the annual Childline Rocks gig. In the ongoing campaign to raise awareness and much-needed cash, Childline have teamed up with the distinguished music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins to organize a sponsored bike ride along the banks of the Nile next January.

I was delighted to be asked to participate in this event and (after being plied with alcohol) didn’t hesitate to say yes.

On sober reflection it occurred to me that although I can ride a bicycle, I haven’t ridden one more than twenty yards in many a year. However, with no concern for my bottom and, despite the possibility that I may be arrested by the fashion police I have decided to be true to my word and take part in this great adventure.

We set off on Jan 21 2010 for Aswan, Egypt, arriving quite late, then up early the next day to spend the morning choosing and checking our bikes, which are supplied. Over the following 48 hours we will cycle over 100 miles more or less along the Nile ending up in Luxor, where survivors will take a deep bath, apply various muscle creams and perhaps a few celebratory beers.

My training program has already begun and the more sharp-eyed amongst you may spot me hurtling through the badlands of South East London over the next few months.

The Thin Thinking Of Going On Strike One

Yes peeps, incredible as it may seem, the whole lot have gone, in less than 2 weeks.

For the record, it’s the quickest selling DVD in Thunder history, and sales have been quite literally off the scale.

More have been ordered of course, but they won’t be delivered until sometime next week (week commencing the 28/09/09). If you ordered yesterday (22/09/09), I’m afraid there’s a very strong chance you are one of the unlucky ones, so please be patient, and your order will be at the top of the pile when the new copies arrive.

Rather than keep taking orders we can’t satisfy, we have temporarily removed the DVD from sale. It will go back on when the new stock arrives, and we will announce it too. If you are intending to order a copy, please wait until we give you the nod, but don’t hang about when we do, it may happen again…

In the meantime the Thunder Shop Ladies will use the chance to take a well earned break-ette and get their breath back...

The Thin Unified One

I’m told the DVD of the Hammersmith show on July 11th is almost completed, there are just the menus to go on and it will be ready to send to the factory. We’ll be uploading a short trailer for it hopefully by the first week of September, and that’s when we plan to go live with pre-orders. We expect to be able to ship by mid September at the latest. All of this is completely dependent on no accidents occurring between now and then of course, but we have our fingers crossed.

The Thin Expectant One

While clearing out the band's various storage lockups and cages, Harry and Danny came across several old cases, including one literally full up with Harry’s drum kit hardware, dating back to the LOJD and BCD tours in the early 90s. Harry had forgotten it was there, and doesn’t want it as he now has new stuff. Rather than sling it all out, we thought we’d stick them up on the site and invite bids from drummers or anyone else who wants it. I’m told it’s worth a few quid, but we’re not looking to raise loads of money, we just want rid of it, and we’d rather it went to a good home.

We don’t want to see fans trying to outbid each other like the eBay thing, so we’ve decide to invite blind bids via the site. Highest bidder wins (or maybe just the nicest email).

There’s a couple of drums racks, 2 flight cases for drums and another for racked amps or effects. All are a bit dusty and knocked about but that’s because they’ve been used by us on several tours, and stored for a few years. All work fine and only need a bit of TLC. Full details below....

Case #1 – Drum Traps Case + 2 x Drum Racks

Dimensions: 143cm x 52cm x 70cm (l x w x h).

It is a standard drums trap case (no foam), stencilled with the Thunder logo and Harry’s name. It is numbered as case # 10. It is literally full to the brim with loads of drum metalwork. There are: - cymbal arms, microphone holders, tom legs, cymbal stands, kick drum pedals, hi hat stands, and loads more besides.

There are two drum frames with clamps and poles to go with this case. These poles can be used to elevate a second drum frame (if need be) so that cymbals can be mounted high (we called it Harry’s Wendy House when he used it).

Case # 2 – Tom Tom Case

Dimensions: 160cm x 48cm x 64cm (l x w x h).

This case is fully foamed inside with 6 partitions for small tom toms. Also stencilled with the Thunder logo and Harry’s name. It is also numbered as case # 10 (all drum cases were # 10).

Partition sizes are: -

21cm x 39cm
23cm x 22cm
28cm x 29cm
63cm x 9cm (sticks and skins)

This case has a missing catch on the top, but these can easily be replaced.

Case # 3 – Racked Amp or FX Case

Dimensions: 60cm x 45cm x 95cm (l x w x h).

This case was used for either Luke or Ben’s guitar effects for a short while back in the day (we can’t remember which of them used it but we tend to think it was Luke). They decided they didn’t like the twiddling, and opted for straight guitar to amp connections. This case was thus abandoned and went into storage.

It contains a fully racked out plywood sleeve (with handles) that sits in the shallow bottom of the case. The sleeve can be used from top to bottom, either in the case or taken out. There are no amps or effects in it now. It’s stencilled with the Thunder logo, and was manufactured for the band by John Henrys in London (who make great cases).

Planet Rock pay tribute to Thunder as they bid farewell to the world.

On Thursday 6 August at 7pm a brand new and exclusive show, Days Of Thunder Pt.1 will look at the early days of the band, how they met at school, their time as Terraplane and the formation of Thunder.

Danny and Luke talk candidly to Rob Birnie about the band’s history and their final farewell.

The Days of Thunder continues on Saturday 8 August at 7pm.

As those of you that have purchased Concert Live CDs of the Manchester show will be u aware there was a 30 second drop out of sound on the CD recorded on Friday night. during Low Life In High Places. This was to do with an as yet unexplained loss of digital signal into the Concert Live machines. On the CD this missing 30 seconds it marked by a new track marking being created during the track, and there is no actual silence, just a small jump in the song. Concert Live are in the process of having this re-mastered and sent up to Newcastle for tomorrows show. Anyone that has purchased the Manchester show and wants a replacement disc will be provided one free of charge. Thunder will now make a very special appearance at the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth on Saturday 1st of August 2009. The band will be headlining the Bohemia tent stage and they will start their show 10 minutes after Linkin Park finish their headlining set on the main stage. This really will be the very last hurrah!

The Thin Phenomenally Hungover One

Demand for the instant live CDs at Glasgow, Sheffield, Cambridge, Newcastle and Nottingham has been good, but sadly insufficient to justify the recording costs. As a result Concert Live have decided that only Manchester, Wolverhampton and London will be recorded. On a positive note, the Manchester Concert Live CD will be on sale at all shows from Manchester onwards, and will be joined by the CDs from both Wolves and London on those nights. All 3 are of course available to buy now at www.concertlive.co.uk.

Also, we have confirmation that the London show is definitely going to be filmed for a final Thunder Live DVD. The plan is to release it ASAP after the show, subject to editing and manufacturing time...more when we have it...

The Thin Packing His Bags One

It’s a strange old time at THUNDER towers right now. There’s a degree of sadness but also a great deal of celebration as we look back at the last twenty years.

Since the beginning of this year when we announced the decision to cease THUNDER activities, the question I’ve been asked more than any other is ‘What will you do next?’

Well.............

I’d like to give you all a little taster of the new band project I’ll be working on with my great friend and long-time collaborator (who a few of you will already be familiar with), PETER SHOULDER.

It’s a demo and very much ‘work in progress’ but PETE and I are both very excited about what we’ll be doing and we want you hear why!

We’ll be recording an album and announcing more details later this summer but in the meantime, please download ‘WATCH THE RIVER FLOW’ (demo) for FREE!!! All we ask for in return is your email address so we can keep you up to date on all future developments.

Thunder have released 2 shows from the 20 Years & Out Farewell Tour of Japan, exclusively via Download Only through Townsend Records. These titles have been made available in response to overwhelming demand from the Japanese fans, after hearing tracks played on Masa Itoh's radio shows.

Both recordings were made direct from the sound desk, on the last 2 Thunder Japanese shows in April 2009, so when you listen, what you'll hear is the mix that came out of the P.A. Thunder have tended not to release these kind of recordings, usually preferring to mix the multitracks properly after the show. These shows were not recorded multitrack so there was no opportunity to do that, meaning they are what they are, moments in time, captured forever.

Some songs are missing on both recordings due to the real time change over from 1 CD to another during the show. Sound levels go up and down a bit, a bit like a bootleg, but the performances from the band are superb.

The Thin Overwhelmingly Demanding One

There are only a few London tickets left, just a few more than that left for Newcastle, and a few more than that for Glasgow. That said, Glasgow sales have now officially broken the all time Thunder sales record for that city. Yes, it seems the band has never sold as many Glasgow tickets in 20 years of playing there.

It’s clear this is going to be an incredible tour, and Glasgow will be the perfect start.

I hear the band may be fixing to put in a mini acoustic performance somewhere in Glasgow some time during the day on the 1^st of July.. A little birdie also tells me there may be some free places to be had. Maybe Rock Radio will have the info soon? It’s a load of may & maybe really, but maybe not...

What is certain, is that all the other shows on the tour are sold out, not just sold out, but completely sold out.

A word from the Thin Wise One.. Please wear little or no clothing, or you will sweat, and maybe need to buy a new tee shirt to wear home. What am I saying? Wear as many clothes as possible, you won’t sweat at all etc….

Thunder’s classic albums Back Street Symphony and Laughing On Judgement Day are to be reissued in deluxe expanded form on 6 July.

The band’s first two albums have been remastered and expanded by a tonne of extra material, including live tracks, B-Sides and rarities.

Backstreet Symphony, Thunder’s classic debut album, was originally released in March 1990. Now expanded to 2 CDs, it’s bolstered by a number of bonus tracks, including rare studio and live b-sides. It also includes their March 1990 Town & Country Club gig, available in its entirety on CD for the first time. Please note that the 'Live At Rock City Case #2' CD and 'The Joy Of Six' CD have now SOLD OUT. These releases are now the first of the STC releases to be deleted and will NOT be repressed. They are still, however, available as a download.

Due to the band splitting up at the end of July, all physical versions of the various Thunder STC and Dodgy Discs titles will be deleted as stocks sell out. They will then be made available via download only...

The Thin Ctrl-Alt-Deleting One

As confirmed yesterday Thunder will once again be taking part in this years Childline Rocks event. London's IndigO2 will be the venue, and June 1st is the date!

Luke will MD the show, as he did in 2008, and members of Thunder will be there to lend a hand with musicianship where necessary, as well as performing a short set of Thunder tunes.

The good folks at Childline asked the band about performing a while back, but unfortunately they were unable to say yes at that point, due to the Hammersmith Apollo show on the Farewell Tour being on sale (promoters get upset), but as the tickets for Hammersmith are almost gone, the guys at Live Nation agreed it was for a good cause and gave their blessing! Hurrah!

The band are extremely pleased to be involved again, as it raised a lot of money for Childline last year.

The Thin Telling The World One

After much discussion, I am happy to to announce that Thunder have agreed a deal with the nice people at Concert Live, for them to record and release 3 shows from the band's farewell UK tour in July. The shows to be recorded are Manchester Academy, Wolverhampton Civic Hall, and London Hammersmith Apollo.

Entitled "20 Years & Out - The Farewell Tour Live", it will be packaged in a nice 3 CD digipack (cardboard fold out case) spread across 2 audio CDs, with a third photo CD containing lovely shots taken at the shows.

INSTANT!

As you may already know, Concert Live specialise in "instant" live releases, so show goers will be able to buy a live CD of the show they have just attended on the way out. If that isn't an incentive to shout louder than usual I don't know what is...

Those who prefer not to queue up will be able to pre-order their copy, and collect it on the night (after the show obviously).

The Thin Very Best One

As the band's split gets closer, an ever increasing number of unsolicited CDs have been arriving at Thunder Towers with requests for the band to sign them. The number has been growing every week, so we have decided we cannot accept any more. The guys will simply not have the time to sign everything before they call it a day in July. We're not going all Ringo Starr on you, the guys are still happy to continue to sign them at the shows, but we will no longer be accepting CDs and other items sent through the post. If they come in we will return them.

The Thin Buried Under A Pile Of Mail One

Luke filmed a piece for Sky News today showcasing a new rock 'n' roll hotel that is opening in Soho, London. It's called The Sanctum and members of Iron Maiden's management team are involved with the project.

The segment will run all day tomorrow (Friday 27th March) on Sky News during their hourly entertainment bulletin.

The Thin Checking Out One

I've been asked to let you know that in light of the fact that it will be the band's final tour, rather than stick to a regular setlist, the band have decided to play a much wider range of songs in July. This effectively means that whilst there will be a core list of songs that will be the same, the rest of the set will be different every night on the tour. You'll have to wait until the tour to find out which songs will be played, but hopefully this way you'll stand a much greater chance of hearing more of your favourites.

For those of you having problems getting tickets for the Hammersmith show, please note that TicketMaster have now sold their allocation, which is why you can't find it on their site. See Tickets and Stargreen have tickets, as does the venue, but all other ticket sellers have sold out...

The Thin Excited To Know One

The Farewell tour is continuing to sell like mad, Manchester Academy has now sold out, and Sheffield is very close to doing the same, so like I said before, if you're still thinking about going, you may wish to stop thinking and act, or you risk missing out.

Rather than take out a single band for the final fling and thus limit the joy, Thunder have invited 4 bands to be their very special guests on their last UK tour. All 4 are either friends of Thunder or have worked with them over the past 20 years. They are:-

The Thin & Rather Informative One

Thunder will release The EP Sessions 2007-2008 on May 22nd 2009 through Metal Heaven Records.

This European only release is a compilation of 16 original, live and re-worked recordings, all of which have previously featured on the recent 3 x EP collections - Six Of One..., ...Half A Dozen Of The Other and The Joy Of Six. Those of you that already have the EPs will no doubt be pleased to learn that for reasons of space, a couple of songs will remain exclusive to those releases. However, the all new artwork does feature some lovely unseen live photos taken by Marty Moffat on the band's 2008 Bang! U.K. tour.

The Thin Wondering If There's A Metel Hell One

We've noticed that some people are getting a little worried about their Xmas CDs not turning up yet, so we though we'd set your mind at ease...

Thunder Shop is currently being bombarded with orders for all items. As a result the ladies that look after the shop are struggling to keep up with the demand and are having to prioritize all over. They have made the sending out of the ticket holders' Xmas CD their number 1 priority, and are working through them as quickly as possible.

Orders for all are being processed in order of receipt, so if everyone could sit tight and be patient, all will be well..

The Thin Glad He Doesn't Work For Thunder Shop One

As some of you may have already noticed a number of copies of 'Rock City 10 - A Christmas Cracker' have been sent out with the rear tray insert (the one with the track listing on) inserted upside down!

This is the fault of the CD plant that pressed the CDs, so we can only apologise on their behalf for their failure to do the job properly! May I also politely suggest that receivers of such a copy should carefully remove the tray and the insert and put it back in the right way round! Alternatively, you could try standing on your head while reading the track listing. Or maybe just turn the CD case upside down....your call...

When the band announced their final UK tour at the end of January, the result was a near instant sell out of the London show at Shepherds Bush Empire, an enormous number of emails (some moaning, some requesting) and a near riot in Glasgow.

Since then knobs have been twiddled, strings pulled and feet stamped on in an attempt to achieve happiness for all (or at least most). Here's what we've come up with, with the fantastic assistance of the fans and Rock Radio in Glasgow and their petition:-

An extra show has been added at Glasgow 02 Academy on Wednesday July 1st. This will now be the first show of the tour. Tickets will be available on Thursday 12th February. Based on the petition results and emails, they won't last long so please be quick if you want to go to the final Thunder show in Scotland.

The venue has been switched from the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire to Hammersmith Apollo.
The date stays the same (11th July) so it is still the last night of the tour, and the last UK show by the band.

Anyone with tickets for Shepherds Bush should contact your point of purchase (i.e. where you originally bought them) for information on how to change them for Hammersmith. Please don't hang about. It will sell out...

The Thin Thunder Fan Counselling One

Dear All

As we enter Thunder's 20th anniversary year, we've found ourselves becoming increasingly busy with our various activities outside of the band, and we've come to the conclusion that there are simply not enough hours in the day to fit it all in. Having discussed it at length, we've decided that this is a fitting time for us to hitch up our wagons and ride into the sunset. We've therefore decided to give you advance notice that we intend to cease all recording and touring activity, as of the summer of 2009.

In practical terms, this means that we will cease to be a band as of the summer, but until then it will be more or less business as usual. The 2008 Xmas Show CDs will be released as promised, and the previously announced shows in Europe (February) and Japan (April) will go ahead as planned. We will use these shows, as well as any festival slots we can secure, to make the most of the time left, and say our goodbyes to you.

With that in mind, despite only touring a couple of months ago, we couldn't make our exit without saying goodbye to UK fans, so we've arranged a final UK tour, which will take place in early July. The dates are as follows:-

03/07 - Manchester Academy
04/07 - Sheffield City Hall
05/07 - Cambridge Corn Exchange
07/07 - Newcastle City Hall
08/07 - Nottingham Rock City
10/07 - Wolverhampton Civic Hall
11/07 - London Shepherds Bush Empire

They will be available to buy at the Xmas Show at Rock City on Wednesday the 17th of December, but not for sale at Thunder Shop (well possibly after the show). Let me explain:- As it is a one off design for a one off show, the tees have been produced in limited numbers with a view to selling them all on the night. This could change of course if they don't all go, in which case they will be made available at Thunder Shop afterwards, but if previous years are anything to go by, stocks will be very limited indeed.

The Thin Twinkling One

As reported last Friday the 5th of December, due to a manufacturing error, a faulty batch of Bang! CDs has found its way out into the shops. Clearly this is not good, and steps have been taken to ensure the inconvenience to Thunder fans is minimised as quickly as possible. New stocks are being prepared and the faulty stocks are being returned to the factory for re-working. However, as some are already in the shops, there is clearly going to be a period of time until all are discovered and returned.

We have been asked to stress that Townsend Records' Bang! stocks are not affected.

If you find you are unlucky enough to have bought a dodgy copy (it has Candy Man on it twice), please return it to us and a perfect copy will be sent to you asap. Please send the CD only, and not the case or booklet.

We have investigated a Freepost solution, but we are told it will take 5 working days to become operational, so we've opted to ask you to pay the postage in the interests of speed, then we will send you a refund along with the replacement CD. Please return your dodgy CD to us at:-

The Thin Replacing One

A recent batch of Bang! copies have been found to be faulty (it has Candy Man on it twice), caused by a mistake at the CD plant. We are taking steps to retrieve them from the distributor and replace them with perfect copies as soon as possible. Unfortunately some of these copies have already found their way into the public domain via shops. Therefore, if you find you have one of these dodgy copies, we would like you to send the CD disc (just the disc not the whole CD case and booklet etc) to us, and we will replace it with a perfect copy. A FREEPOST address will be announced as soon as we have it in place. We are very sorry for any inconvenience.

The Thin Faultless One

It is with much regret that we have to announce today that Harry will not be able to do the Thunder UK tour. He was admitted to hospital earlier this week in a great deal of pain, and after much testing, he was diagnosed with kidney stones. We are told this is a very painful and debilitating condition, and can flare up at the most inopportune times. He is not in any danger, but does need treatment, so the rest of the band decided that rather than put him through it and risk any shows, or even worse, cancel the tour, the sensible thing was to bring in a replacement. Harry is of course choked and would have preferred to do the tour, but common sense has to prevail.

John Tonks is an old friend of the band, and he has agreed to drop everything to step in and help out at short notice. He is an excellent drummer, and an all round good chap, so we hope you will make him very welcome at the shows. He also has a shaved head, which is of course an extra bonus.

We know you will be disappointed, and it won't be the same without Harry of course, for all of us, but at least this way the tour will happen, and Harry can get the treatment he needs. We hope you will join us in wishing him well.

The Thin Medical One

After all the madness of Mr Chris Evans going all Thunder-tastic the other week, you'll be pleased to know we decided that On The Radio should be presented for consideration for the Radio 2 play list. It was done without any real expectation of actually getting on, and we were right. Still, no matter, we had a little burst of Radio 2, and we all enjoyed it very much. Thanks to you all for your hundreds of emails and texts, Mr Evans' producer said you more than tripled their previous highest text response, so once again you have proved you are the best.

No doubt you all have the new LP "Bang!" so this next piece will be of minority interest to you, but once again we need your help to spread the word. We did a special "clean" version of On The Radio a while back, and have decided to make it available as a free download to all those who want it. It's slightly shorter and minus the dreaded F word in the middle, but apart from that it's the same as the LP version.

As with Candy Man, it's free to have provided you give an email address (if you downloaded Candy Man you won't need to), but as before, we need you to tell the world about the song, the fabness and of course the freeness. Please feel free to tell the person next to you when you're at the Thunder show (or anywhere really), and Danny will do the same during the set.

We're very very grateful to all of you who did your bit for the cause and voted HIT for 'On The Radio' on Radio 2 tonight. Once again Thunder Fans have proved themselves to be the best, and it shows that people power is most definitely alive and well in you. To get on Radio 2 at any time is great, but to get on Chris Evans' show at drive time is truly incredible. For him to be so enthusiastic about the record is down to the efforts of the lovely Sally Boazman, but she was assisted in no small way by the huge wave of fan support from you, so this is a very special team effort.

The Thin Still Gutted He Missed The Party One

Ben, Luke and Danny will be making a brief appearance at Guitarfest, which is part of Music Live, at the NEC on Nov 7th.

The guys will be teaming up with Tommy Aldridge & Marco Mendoza and play a few covers. Marshall amps have asked the band to do it as they have a big presence there, and Thunder endorse their amps.

Harry and Chris are unavailable that day, hence the trio appearance.

The Thin Not On The Radio One

Dear All

It will no doubt come as a complete surprise to most of you to learn that this year's Thunder Xmas Show will be held at Rock City in Nottingham on Wednesday December the 17th. The now legendary mix of re-worked Thunder tunes combined with splendid cover versions will be the order of the evening, all wrapped up in festive clothing, beards, hats, inflatables, trees and of course the obligatory snow machines. In addition, I'm told that this year Harry will enter the venue in a sleigh pulled by a gaggle of reindeers, throwing presents to all and sundry. Actually I made that last bit up, but you get the vibe...

The show will be recorded as usual and an exclusive Live CD will be sent to all who buy a ticket & send in their claim form (sent out in Feb after Ben has mixed it and Chris has put his crayons away).

Demand for this year's giggle is likely to be huge, as last year's Live CD (Rock City 8 - The Turkey Strikes Back) continues to sell incredibly well. History has taught us that this is a very good indicator. The word is therefore, book early to avoid disappointment, or in other words.. IF YOU WANT TO ATTEND, DON'T HANG ABOUT!

The Thin Announcing Constantly One

Thunder HQ have got together with Rock Radio to stage a launch party for BANG!

It'll take place at the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester on Monday 27th October (19:30 'til late).

The new LP will be played through in its entirety, then the band will play an acoustic set. The band will follow that with a major meet & greet type mingle, sign stuff, do photos, chat about the price of cheese etc.

The evening will be MC'd by Rock Radio's Mike Sweeney, and the whole thing will be recorded for a Rock Radio Thunder Special, which will be broadcast a few days later.

Not only do you get to hear the new record before anyone else, you get an acoustic gig, and IT'S FREE!!

There are 250 tickets up for grabs, and a couple of ways to get your hands on yours:

1. Listen to Rock Radio, they'll tell you what to do. They have most of the tickets.

2. Email us at BangKneesUp@thunderonline.com, explaining why you should be there. We have a limited supply of tickets, and will award them to writers of emails that we consider to be the most original, creative funny, deadly serious, earnest, deserving, downright rude, or perhaps all of the above.

Yes people, after what seems like a long time indeed (actually it's not), I can finally announce that the new LP is here. Well not actually here, it won't be out until November, but I thought you'd want to know, so here are the details...

The record was recorded at Walton Castle in Clevedon, near Bristol, in the sunny South West of England, at various times during the spring of this year. The place is not a studio as such, but the band thought the 2 foot thick stone walls and large selection of rooms and turrets would work brilliantly, so they moved all their recording kit, all the equipment, tons of cables and pipes, and their swimming trunks down to the place, and guess what? They were right! As he who controls all things, I have heard it, and it sounds fab! All songs were written by Luke, except Watching Over You (which he wrote with Andy J. Taylor and Mike Keen).

If you bought the Six Of One and Half A Dozen Of The Other EPs, some of the more eagle eyed among you will no doubt notice that two of the tracks on The Joy Of Six appear on the first 2 EPs. This is where it gets interesting... It transpires that the band recorded Yesterday's News and I Believe live for a couple of radio sessions earlier this year (you may have heard them). They turned out so well that they took them into the depths of the castle of a bit of a tweak, re-recorded some bits and added some new, added the odd eye of toad and lips of newt, stirred it up in the pot and came up with a couple of rather splendid new laid back version excursions.

The Joy Of Six comes in a very sexy chunky cardboard box with a lift off lid, and it's big enough to fit the Six Of One and Half A Dozen Of The Other EPs in there too. How great is that? Please note that like the previous two EPs, The Joy Of Six is a limited edition release, and will not be available forever. It will also not be available in the shops, or anywhere except Townsend Records. Talking of which...

Thunder recently donated several items to raise money for a charity event, in aid of MS research, held at the Barking Dog in Wallsend 0n Sunday 24/8.

We are pleased to announce that the event has over £3.5k, of which the Thunder items raised a fantastic £245.00 at auction.

Well done to everyone involved!

The Thin Barking Mad One

Thunder fan Dominic O'Riley has announced that he will be doing a mega Thunder run across England in November to coincide with the band's U.K. tour.

Thunder kick off their UK tour on the 21st in Exeter and finish it in London at the Astoria on the 30th. Dominic's plan is to start running on the 22nd and go via:

Salisbury - Tuesday
Winchester- Wednesday
Farnham - Thursday
Esher - Friday
Kew - Saturday
London Astoria (Thunder Show!) - Sunday

Total distance is nearly 200 miles so which is the equivalent of 7 and 1/2 Marathons in 9 days!!

The Thin Feeling Shamefully Lazy and Unfit One

We're very pleased to announce that Thunder will be supported this November in the UK by Get Vegas and Heaven's Basement. Both bands are tipped for big things, and were invited quite simply because Thunder like them.
Both bands will play all shows.

Please continue to do the thing you do most splendidly, and spread the word about the tour throughout the summer. You know what that means...

The tour is selling extremely well already, but it would be great if it was all sold out before the first show.
We think you'll agree it's a really good bill, and we know all who attend are going to have a blast.
