The Thin Controller
Thunder has been asked to join Aerosmith, Joe Bonamassa and Walking Papers at the Calling Festival on Clapham Common, London, on June 28th. We’re really quite excited about this, and we’re told more bands will be announced soon.
Tickets will go on pre-sale to Live Nation subscribers at 9am this Thursday March 6th, and they will go on sale to everyone else at the same time on Friday March 7th.
We're extremely pleased to finally announce our Imminent Juicy News.
Yes it's been a long time coming, but after much wailing, moaning and gnashing of teeth (by others of course, not us, for we have been serenity personified throughout), we can reveal that we will be joining Mott The Hoople as their special guests at the 02 in London on November 18th 2013.
The bill will be completed by our old mate Fish (ex Mariillion and all round good bloke), so we are well chuffed to be doing it.
This could be welcome news to some of you who could not make it to Wolverhampton for the Xmas shows.
If you're already going, then this will hopefully warm your cockles.
If you're thinking of going, tickets and more info can be found here
Ben, Chris, Danny, Harry & Luke

Before you ask, there are no plans to repeat this billing anywhere else. So all those in need of a moan/rant/whinge/bleat, please feel free to do it now..

Need a hotel for the Xmas show?
Click the link below for good rates all over the place, not just the Xmas show.
Following much email action and many requests, the band has decided to offer a VIP ticket for the Thunder fan who wants more than just the live show.
Here's the info in detail:-
Q. What Do I Get If I Buy A VIP Ticket?
A. You get:-
The Show Ticket
Choose either a seated or a standing ticket (the VIP seats are the very best in the venue - but beware there are limited numbers and they will go quickly).
Watch the band play for just you and the other VIPs, for 20 mins during the sound check on the afternoon of the show. This will take place at approximately 16:00 (TBC).
Meet The Band
After sound check, you will have your photo taken with the band in front of the stage - a high quality photo print will be sent to each VIP ticket buyer by post asap after Xmas.
This will be given to you at the sound check, and will get you back into the venue 5-10 mins before the doors open for non VIP ticket holders - so you'll get a great view with no queues.
Guaranteed After Show Meet & Greet Access
Meet the band again after the show. No applying and hoping your name is picked out of the hat - this is guaranteed!
The Live CD
All ticket buyers will get this.
Q. How Much Is A Thunder VIP Ticket?
A. They are £100 each.
Q. Is There A Booking Fee Or Extra Charge On Top?
A. No, just a minimal postage charge (tickets will be sent via Recorded Delivery).
Q. Why Buy A Thunder VIP Ticket?
A. You don't have to. The regular ticket is much cheaper and still includes the live CD of the show highlights. The VIP ticket is more expensive, but you get a lot more...
Q. Where Can I Buy A VIP Ticket?
A. Via Thunder's Facebook Store (the blue store button on Thunder's Facebook Page). THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE YOU CAN BUY THUNDER VIP TICKETS. THEY WILL NOT BE SOLD ANYWHERE ELSE.
Q. When Can I Buy A VIP Ticket?
A. They will go on sale AT 09:00 on Friday June 21st. Please check the band's Facebook store on Friday.
Q. How Many VIP Tickets Are There?
A. Only 20 Standing and 10 Seated, so there will be 30 VIPS only. This is the most the band can accommodate in the soundcheck (they have to eat their dinner before they go on stage you know!!).
Q. When Will The VIP Tickets Be Sent Out?
A. Late November.
The Small Print:
All tickets (not just VIP ones) include the ticket buyers' CD (it will be sent out to all ticket buyers in Feb 2014 when it is ready).
1 ticket = CD.
No booking fee will be added to the VIP ticket price, just a minimal fee for postage.
VIP Tickets will be sent via Recorded Delivery.
Full confirmation on timings and Sound Check entry procedure will be sent to buyers via email in early December.
VIP Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis. Once they're gone, they are gone. No more will be created.
At last we can announce that this year's Thunder Xmas show will take place at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on December 20th.
Tickets will go on sale this Friday the 21st of June.
Some of you will be able to get them earlier via O2 and Live Nation pre-sales if you're signed up for the appropriate schemes.
REGARDLESS OF HOW OR WHERE YOU BUY A TICKET - THERE WILL PROBABLY BE SOME BOX TICKING INVOLVED - SO WATCH OUT FOR ONE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
This year's show will be different as we will be selling a limited number of VIP TICKETS, with all kinds of goodies attached. More info on this tomorrow..
We are sorry if the show isn't going to be where you live, but like last time, and the time before, for some of you it will be very close.
We're off to the USA again in May 2013, to take part in what is becoming an annual Childline Rocks Charity Motorcycle event.
We'll fly to Utah on May 4th, pick up Harley Davidsons and ride roughly 1 million miles through some rather spectacular countryside for a week. Fear not people, we'll be back in time to play the tour with Journey & Whitesnake.
As before, our trip has been paid for via sponsorship, so all money raised via this page will go direct to Childline, our chosen charity.
Chris will be joining us this time, and doing his bit for the cause.
As we did in 2011, we are very much hoping you'll be able to make a donation, large or small, we'll take 'em all..
To help persuade you to donate, we would like to offer you 3 levels of "incentive". We will not be selling these items to you, merely giving them as a thank you for your kind donation.
1. Donate £5 or more will get you the 2 live tracks not on the Xmas 2012 CDs. These tracks are Dirty Love & Love Walked In.
2. Donate £20 or more and you will get the aforementioned 2 live tracks PLUS our home movie of this year's ride. This will be filmed by us on our phones and cameras, and edited by us too, so apologies in advance, but think of the kids..
3. £30 or more will get you both of the above PLUS the first part of our Childline Rocks 2011 film. This is the professionally produced film that was shot about the ride in 2011. This film will be available later this year in 4 parts, so you'll be getting a sneaky peak..
We know times is hard right now for all, but kids are suffering every day, so Childline's work is needed more than ever before. Please give what you can.
Thanks a million
Ben, Chris, Danny, Harry & Luke
All incentives will be delivered via digital download.
All donors will be sent a link to download their content via email soon after the end of June 2013.
Full details can be found at the link below... Roll up roll up, summer will be here before you know it...

Danny says: “We agreed we would do some shows next year, but there's no new album so we were thinking we'd just do some festivals, then this came up. It's perfect for us, and it’s a great bill, like they used to be back in the day. Let’s face it, we could all do with a bit of cheering up at the moment, so hopefully the people who come will get a brilliant night out and go home happy. I’m sure we will."
Tickets go on sale 10am on Friday 9th November and are available from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk
Since ‘Siren’s Song’ has just been nominated for album of the year by Classic Rock magazine, we figured this was the perfect time to tell you all about our plans for album number three….
Since ‘Siren’s’ was released last October we’ve played a couple of successful UK tours as well as recently completing a goodly number of summer festivals across Europe so a big thank you to all of you that came along to share the experience.
Our new album will be entitled ‘The World Is Yours’ and will be released February 11th 2013. We’ve been busy working on the new material (we're delighted with the results so far) and we want to offer you all the chance get involved early by pre-ordering or making a ʻpledgeʼ on the forthcoming album. Thereʼll also be a number of rare, signed and VIP goodies on offer so whether you fancy joining us in the studio for a day or simply to be a VIP at one of our gigs, we want you to be in the loop!
Whatever you pledge on, you’ll receive a pre-order download of the album (delivered once the album is released) plus exclusive PledgeMusic updates so you can follow our progress via video diaries, blogs, photos and maybe even the odd sneak preview of the album. A percentage of proceeds will also go to Childline Rocks so you’ll get to feel virtuous and help a great cause at the same time! We’ll be working towards a minimum of pre-orders to make all this possible. No money will be debited from your bank account until we hit 100%.
We’re really looking forward to working with the good people at PledgeMusic. At a time when the music industry’s future is uncertain, they are enabling lots of artists to get their music out there by involving fans at an early stage of the creative process. We want you guys to get involved too because together we can help secure the future of great music!
Thanks for your continued support,
Luke & Pete.
Following their hugely successful sell out 15 date tour in January, Danny & Ben from Thunder will return in January 2013 for more intimate evenings of 2 man mirth, music and musings. Sticking with the same format, they'll be spreading the joy with new road stories, acoustic versions of Thunder songs and more of their favourite covers, all wrapped up in some general D&B silliness. What better way to cheer up January?
As usual all the Danny & Ben news can be found at www.thunderonline.com.

Danny, Ben, Luke & Peter will return to the USA in July, with a load of fellow nutters for the second USA charity motorcycle ride, also known as The Great British Invasion.
Times are tight, so it has been decided not to ask Thunder/Union fans for donations this year (though you can of course donate to Childline any time).
However, if you fancy spending a week on a Harley Davidson, riding through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, and having a sing song around the camp fire every now and then with DBL&P, that is possible..
Yes folks, you read that right, there are some places available for those who can raise the funds, so if you have a bike licence and you're interested in what we're told is "the ride of a lifetime", just click the link, read the blurb, get all excited, then email the organisers.

For those of you who didn't get a ticket, fret not, all is not lost. As with previous Xmas shows, a second CD has been produced for you, and it is called Rock City 12 - The Baubles Are Back In Town.

We met Tom a few times at our shows.
He was a very nice young chap, and tragically taken way too early.
We know times are tight, but anything you can donate will help these lunatics raise some much needed research money.
Yes peeps, having been approached about it, considered it, and ultimately rejected it several times for reasons of cost since 1989 when Thunder began, the bountiful goddess Internet has finally enabled the band to produce a book. And a lovely thing it is too.
Shot and designed by band friends Marty Moffatt and Jason Joyce, this 80 page photo book features a short intro from all 5 band members, and captures 3 pretty full on days in the life of the band in July 2011. It documents 1 day at rehearsals, the warm up show at Rock City, and the band's appearance at the High Voltage Festival.
It's a thick hard backed high quality "made for your coffee table" type affair, and very nicely put together by a company called Blurb.
Thunder Towers ordered a test copy for the office, and can testify that it is a very chunky and most desirable piece of Thunder kit.
Whilst it is not a cheap thing, we think it is very nice, hopefully you'll agree.
For the iPad enabled, there is also an eBook version that is much cheaper (you'll need iBooks) and good for showing.
To preview the whole book (every page), and of course purchase a copy, please click here for the Thunder page at Blurb.com.
There are quite a few fan pics, perhaps you'll see yourself...
We hope you like it.

The Thin Big Red Dragon-Like One
As promised, here is the announcement.
Thunder fans were invited last week to send in emails expressing opinion for or against a second Xmas show on December 20th.
The YES vote won out by a staggering 12 to 1 against the NOs, and if ticket pledges are to be believed, a second show could also sell out.
Whilst some will be unhappy about this, the vast majority who have expressed a vote want it to happen.
Please believe me when I say the band based it purely on the voting.
It will therefore come as no surprise that the band have decided an additional Xmas show will take place at Rock City for December 20th.
Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday morning (Sept 30th) at
More Evenings With Danny & Ben

Once again, this is a 2 man, stripped down, sit down acoustic show, with Thunder songs, covers, stories and chat.
That's all from me
The Thin, In The Rough One
Yes people, as promised, here are the two announcements from Thunder Towers...
1. Thunder Xmas Show 2011
I'm pleased to announce that the 2011 Xmas show will take place at Rock City, Nottingham, UK on Wednesday December 21st.
This will be the first Thunder Xmas show since 2008, and promises to be pretty special.
As in previous years, the show will be a two set mix of acoustic and full on electric sets, featuring Thunder songs and covers, with special guests and festive fun.
Tickets are £27.50 (the same price as Xmas 2008), and can be bought in the following ways:-
via the Box Office: 0845 413 4444, or in person at the venue.
Tickets will go on sale this Friday September 16th.
As in previous years, the show will be recorded, and the ticket price includes a CD of the highlights.
Also as before, there will be a second slightly different version, which will be sold exclusively via Thunder Shop (that way everyone can get something).
Unlike previous years when you had to claim your copy, this time we will automatically send the Ticket Buyers' CD (to those who buy a ticket of course) as soon as it's ready.
Important - For this to happen you must give consent for Rock City to pass your details to Thunder Towers before you make the payment, then we'll do the rest.
If you don't do this, we won't receive your details, and you won't get the CD, simples...
Now to the other thing..
2. An Evening With Danny & Ben - 2 Man Show - Music & Chat
Danny & Ben will play 8 intimate sit down shows in January 2012.
Each "Evening With Danny & Ben" will be a relaxed mix of stripped down Thunder tunes & their favourite cover versions, plus stories from their combined 760 years in the music business.
The shows will be seated, and those who attend will be "actively encouraged" to join in. Exact details of this are top secret, but I think you can imagine what's likely to happen.
There will be no support band, but there will be 2 sets each night, with a short "toilet & drinks" interval in the middle.
Ticket are £17.50 & like the Thunder Xmas show, will go on sale on Friday September 16th at
Dates, venues and ticket info as below (Click the poster to buy tickets)
Danny says "Ben and I visited a secondary school a little while ago to give a talk to a load of 15 year old music students. Having agreed to do it, we were a bit apprehensive, and thought it might be a bit dull for them, having 2 old gits spouting on about the music business and touring etc, but we were wrong, they loved it. That started us thinking, always dangerous, the next thing we were doing some shows. Lord help us all...."
Ben says "I’ve always enjoyed doing interviews with Danny, I didn’t get the opportunity that often but when we did it was always a lot of fun, that’s when I could get a word in edgeways! We seem to have the knack of making each other laugh, so we thought it would be a great idea to see if we could do the same in front of an audience. If all else fails we’ll play them a song or two and do a runner..."
A very civilised and fun evening for all, sounds like the perfect antidote to the New Year Blues...
That's it folks, more news from me when there is some.
The Thin Digging Out The Xmas Hat & Likely To Be Quite Busy In January One
It is with extreme sadness that we have to report the death of Glenn Goodrich, a Thunder fan from the USA.
Glenn was at the Sun Valley show in Ketchum on July 16th, and we met with him afterwards. He was an extremely nice man.
It appears he was working security on the barricade at the Indiana State Fair last weekend. The stage collapsed, killing Glenn and 4 other people.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to their families.

Unfortunately, we have now closed the official Thunder forum here at Thunder Online.
The decision wasn't an easy one to make, as in days gone by the forum was the hub of social networking for Thunder fans. However, fast forward a few years and the likes of Facebook, Twitter, etc have taken over all of that. The board was far from active recently, and only a handful of fans still used it (and most of these fans are on Facebook anyway).
Aside from that, the forum was constantly getting attacked by Spammers and they frustratingly keep finding new ways of getting in. The administration was becoming more time consuming that it was worth, to be honest...
We encourage any fans that have yet to join us on Facebook and Twitter to please do so. You'll get all the latest Thunder news, be able to have discussions with other fans and there's even updates direct from members of the band...click the links below for more:
The Japanese section of the forum, which contains translations of Thunder news in Japanese will continue to function under the section "News In Japanese" in the NEWS menu on the left (Continued thanks to Skinny and Tubby for this)
And finally, a huge thanks must go out to Chubby who has been forum admin for most of the boards existence. He did a sterling job of keeping the Thunder fans in check when it all got a bit heated, as well as keeping those evil Spammers at bay! Long live Chubby... ;)
The Thin Feeling Sentimental One
Thanks to all you lunatics, the recent Thunder activities have been extremely successful:-
The Childline Rocks 2011 USA Charity ride was a triumph, raising a staggering £11,500 to date (including Gift Aid). There was a hell of a lot of video and audio recorded, and it is being evaluated as I type. We'll be in touch with donors regarding how they can access their content as soon as we can, but please bear with us, it's a bit of a job..
Both Sun Valley Pavilion and Rock City Nottingham warm up shows went extremely well, and the band was very pleased with how they turned out, so thanks to all who showed up, screamed, sang, clapped etc, especially at such short notice in Nottingham (contractual obligations meant it had to be last minute). These shows provided ideal preparation for the triumph that was High Voltage last Sunday. Official word from the festival organisers is that Thunder had the biggest crowd, best audience reaction, and the best attended signing session of the entire weekend, so huge thanks again to all of you who did your bit.
As hinted at recently in interviews, the band have decided to do a Christmas show. Discussions are taking place, and we'll be making an announcement as soon as we know the details. I must stress that there are no plans to do anything beyond that.
On a slightly bum note, Thunder Shop has recently been attacked by cyber thugs. Not specifically our shop, but the servers provided by our system hosts. It has resulted in chaos, with orders going missing, site outtage, payments made but orders not sent to us, the list goes on. If you've experienced any inconvenience as a result, we apologise, but it has been completely out of our control. Our system guys have been trying to fix it on the hoof, but this has proved impossible and major changes are needed, so big tech stuff will take place next week. While it happens Thunder Shop staff have been given the week off from August 2nd to 9th. The shop will continue to function on one level to receive orders, but no processing will take place until after the 9th. Hopefully by then we will have moved over to new sexy bullet proof servers..
That's it from me for now, more news soon..
The Thin Illuminating One
Those of you that use iTunes will no doubt be aware of iTunes Ping (kind of like a Twitter within iTunes).
Thunder now have an official profile on Ping, so please feel free to follow us at the below link (you will need iTunes installed and a iTunes account first...)
The Thin Pinging One
So, the secret is out...our good friends SKIN will have a very, very special guest band opening for them this Thursday night (21st July) at Rock City in Nottingham.
Apparently the "secret" band's name begins with the letter T and ends in the letter R. We can't work out who it might be, but just in case you fancied popping along, please make sure that you get there early....doors open and 6pm and we expect the opening band to hit the stage around 7pm, whoever they may be....
The Thin Getting Ready For The Weekend One...
The guys have arrived in Idaho! Chris and Harry and Dave (The Union's drummer) have flown out to meet Danny, Luke, Ben and Peter in preparation for Thunder's first show in almost 2 years, tonight at the Sun Valley Pavilion (which, of course, also feature's a performance from The Union...)
A few more photos have been added to the galley. Click the image below to see them all...
Don't forget to keep checking the Thunder and The Union Facebook pages for updates.
If you're going to the show tonight have a blast...
The Thin Not Jealous At All One...
10th July 2011:
London to Amsterdam to Calgary then 5 hrs on a bus down to Cranbrook BC. We had a lovely welcome at the Harley Davidson shop (they are kindly supplying all bikes for our road trip) and a couple of beers at the hotel. Exhausted but overwhelmed by the beauty of the Rocky Mountains! More tomorrow
11th July 2011:
Pete outside the HD dealership in Cranbrook BC
Mr. Bowes gets ready to set off
12th July 2011:
Yesterday we went from Cranbrook to Waterton. 150 miles up into the mountains through some beautiful country. Along the way we stopped to look at the world's biggest truck! Here's Pete inside the wheel!
Ben has done some audio work with The Australian Pink Floyd Show recently. They're filming a private gig for US TV at Hammersmith Apollo in London on July 17th.
You can't buy tickets for this show, but luckily, you don't have to...
Ben says the live show is fab, so if you're free and you fancy it, click this link for details.
Something good for absolutely nothing, now that doesn't happen very often does it.....
The Thin Gift Bearing One
Yes people, as recently Tweeted and Facebooked, the new Thunder tee is proving very popular indeed.
So much so that we're run out of most sizes, and have had to order more.
Unfortunately, the suppliers are also extremely busy printing shirts for festivals etc, so we have to wait until Friday the 15th for new stock to arrive.
In light of this, it has been decided that Thunder Shop will close its metaphorical doors for a few days, for a bit of well earned rest, followed by some much needed stock-taking.
The shop will close late this Friday the 8th, and re-open on Friday the 15th, when the new stock will have arrived.
Orders received prior to closure will be despatched this Saturday, stock permitting.
Where items are out of stock, we will email you, and you'll be given the option to either cancel, or wait until the new stock arrives.
The Thin Number Crunching One
The new 'Made In England' shirt has gone down very well. So well, in fact, that we have had to bring in some extra staff to help us get all the orders out to you as fast as possible!
We are currently processing away like mad, and expect to begin shipping by the end of this week.
The Thin Feeling Good To Be Busy Again One
Yes peeps, as reported last week, the new Thunder tee design is here and on sale now exclusively via Thunder Shop.
It's available in a regular tee, as well as a skinny version for the girls (with the usual Thunder girly sparkly bits of course).
Both have a slightly faded authentic print, to go with the vintage design. As there is no tour, it was decided they would be better with a minimal (i.e.non existent) back print.
We hope you like it, and it would be great to see a load of these being proudly worn at High Voltage, maybe some in Ketchum too.

Plans proceed apace for the USA road trip.
Here is the schedule:-
10 July Fly UK to Cranbrook via Calgary (British Columbia)
11 Ride to Waterton (Alberta)
12 Ride to Whitefish (Montana)
13 Ride to Missoula / Lolo (Montana)
14 Ride to McCall (Idaho)
15 Ride to Ketchum (Idaho)
16 Ketchum - Sun Valley Pavilion - the show
17 Fly to UK
If you can make it along to any of the towns our intrepid bunch will pass through, please feel free to say hello. I have no idea what time they are likely to arrive in each town, but I'm sure you'll hear them coming..
Click here to buy your ticket to the Sun Valley Pavilion show
In addition to recording audio and shooting video clips, it has recently been agreed for a film crew to join the ride. This means the whole ride will be filmed for later release.
Those of you who have donated £10 plus to Childline will receive the audio recordings as promised, and those of you who have donated £25 or more will receive the audio + video clips. By way of recognition of your generosity, I'm told these video clips will be exclusive, and will not appear in the film.
Planet Rock will broadcast an audio blog from the trip every morning on their breakfast show, and will possibly be playing some of the live audio stuff too, so listen in to hear how they get on.
Meet & Greets
We've received a great many emails asking about meet & greets in both the USA and High Voltage.
I'm told there will be no formal M&G time or place in the USA, either along the ride or at the Sun Valley Pavilion show, but the guys will be out and about, so don't be shy..
Discussion is ongoing with High Voltage officials for a possible M&G there, and a good time is being sought to do it. More news on that when I get some.
That's all for now..
The Thin Sobbing Cos I'm The Non Idaho ing One
As promised via Facebook/Twitter/MySpace tickets for the Idaho show will go on sale today. Details below....Saturday July 16th 2011:
The Great British Invasion
Sun Valley Pavilion, Idaho, USA
Thunder and The Union with special guest Marina V
Tickets : http://www.sunvalley.com/things-to-do/entertainment/#/sun-valley-pavilion/
As reported a few weeks ago, Ben Danny Luke & Peter will be joining a bunch of like minded lunatics in July, on a charity motorcycle ride in Canada and the USA.
The intrepid four's efforts to date have raised just under £6000 (That's over £7,000 with Gift Aid), with all donations going to Childline in the UK, so huge thanks to all of you who have given so generously so far. If you haven't made a donation yet (we know who you are), there's still time (and even £1.00 will make a difference).
As promised, here is a bit more information, though if you listened to Ben and Danny on Planet Rock this morning you may already know it..
The ride goes from Cranbrook British Columbia on July 11th and ends up in Ketchum Idaho on July 15th, and will pass through some wonderfully named towns such as Waterton (Alberta), Whitefish (Montana), Missoula, Lolo, McCall (Idaho) & Stanley. The intrepid four will be part of group of 25 or so lunatics, including former SAS officer turned best selling author Andy McNab (Bravo Two Zero) and others.
The plan is to play music somewhere each night of the ride, and audio recordings will be sent back for broadcast on Planet Rock each morning on the Breakfast show. The audio recordings will be given away to the lovely people who donate £10 or more, and the audio plus various video clips will go to those stellar beings who donate £25 or more. I say somewhere, as it's all a bit ad hoc at the moment, and none of the musical evenings are planned, but rest assured, make music they most definitely will...
I'm very pleased to report that the rest of the members of Thunder & The Union have agreed to fly out to join Ben Danny Luke & Peter, and both bands will play at the Sun Valley Pavilion in Ketchum on July 16th. It will be Thunder's first show since Sonisphere on August 1st 2009, and the band will treat the show as a warm up for their High Voltage appearance on July 24th. There may be another.. Watch this space..
I've been asked to say that anyone interested in joining the ride should visit http://childlinerocks.co.uk/news_item.php?id=400 where full details can be found. You must have a full motorcycle licence and possibly a screw loose, but definitely a few bob, this is for charity after all.
That's it from me for now..
The Thin & Non Riding One
We're really proud to unveil the title track from our forthcoming album 'Siren's Song'. This track is available for free in return for your email address. If you haven't registered your email address with Music Glue you will be sent an email to validate your email.
Please tell all your friends and send them this link via Email, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace etc....
Thanks so much for your support
Luke & Pete
Dear Generous Person
As you may know, both Thunder and The Union are firm supporters of Childline Rocks, which raises much needed money for both Childline and the NSPCC.
Having played at various fundraising live events over the years, we've recently agreed to take part in a charity motorcycle ride in the USA from July 10th to July 16th.
We need to raise a substantial amount of money, so we're asking for donations from everyone we know. The ride is already being supported by pillars of the British rock community including Classic Rock magazine and Planet Rock Radio. We would like you as fellow members of that same community to help us make this event a success.
The plan is to fly out to Calgary, Canada on the 9th, pick up bikes, then spend the next 5 days riding down into the USA, ending up in Ketchum Idaho on the 15th. As you'd expect with a bunch of musicians together on a road trip, there will be musical moments each night of the journey, and we're looking to arrange impromptu appearances in local bars and venues and anywhere else we can pass the hat around! All of this will be captured for posterity via audio and video recordings.
We'll be making more details known as they're confirmed, but now you know the basics of what we'll be doing, we'd like to ask for your help to make it happen.
We're well aware that times are hard at the moment, and there seems to be no end of worthy causes asking for money nowadays, so rather than ask you to give as much as you can for this great cause, we'd like to turn it on its head and say that we'll gladly accept whatever you can spare.
Seriously, even £1.00 will help, so if that is what you can give, we will take it.
You are many, and if you all donate £1.00, we will easily exceed the required amount and ensure a huge donation for Childline.
As an added incentive, if you donate £10 or more you will receive the audio recordings of the music we play along the journey. Those who donate £25 or more will get the music plus video clips. Audio and video content will be determined on the ride, and the distribution method will be decided based on the demand, but rest assured we will make it as killer as we can.
We hope you can find it in your heart (and perhaps under the cushions in the sofa) to donate something (anything) to this extremely worthy cause and make it a brilliant and successful trip.
You can make your donation here
Thanks very much in advance for your generosity and support.

The Thin Stock Taking One...
We are often asked at Thunder Towers why there is no official Thunder twitter page...the truth is that Twitter really only started to become popular as the band was coming to and end, so there didn't really seem to be much point.
However, you kept asking (or is that demanding), and you know that we aim to please....so....
...Yes it's true - you can now join Thunder on Twitter....
Click the logo below to follow...
The Thin Tweeting One...
I've been asked by the band to post a note of support for the people of Japan.
Like the rest of the world, all of us here at Thunder Towers are shocked and deeply saddened by the recent events there.
Whatever lies ahead, we know you will bear the burden with great dignity, and you have both our respect and profound admiration.
Our thoughts are with you..
Ben, Chris, Danny, Harry, Luke, Thinny & All at Thunder HQ
Luke recently contributed guitar work to a charity single in aid of raising men's cancer awareness in the UK.
The single is released April 4th.
Please go to http://www.feelingthefury.com/ to find out more!
The Thin Feeling The Fury One...
Danny has been asked to appear at The Sunflower Jam at The Albert Hall on
The Sunflower Jam is a charity shows organised by Jacky Paice (wife of Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice), and raises money to help provide alternative therapies and treatment programs, predominantly for children and young cancer sufferers. HRH Prince Charles will be there on the night, and some of the funds raised will hopefully go towards helping his foundations develop a new therapy centre.
Danny has told Thunder Online that he is thrilled be invited to perform and has, of couse, accepted. As it's a jam, we are currently unsure what he will sing or who he will be singing with, but it's bound to be a hoot.
Anyone who buys a ticket is apparently guaranteed to go to Heaven...That's good isn't it.. !?
More details can be found at www.thesunflowerjam.com.
The Thin Buying His Way Into Heaven One...
Here's an update on the new Rough & Ready album, and Thunder Towers has been a hive of activity this past 2 weeks.
The orders have been coming in at a huge rate of knots, so we've brought in extra staff to help with process and despatch.
We thought you'd like to know that two thirds of orders received prior to March 1st were sent out on that day and yesterday.
The rest will go out today, so if you haven't received your copy yet, please don't worry, it will be with you soon.
If you've ordered within the past couple of days, please bear with us, we're on it, and it will be sent out before the weekend.

The Thin All Typed Out One...
Thunder – Live - Rough & Ready
Cat No: STC2011-1
Launch & Pre-order Date: Thursday February 17th 2011
Release Date: Tuesday March 1st 2011 (this is when all pre-ordered copies will ship)
Available: Online only at www.thunderonline.com and www.thunderonline-shop.co.uk (it will not be sold in the shops)
This 4 x CD live release features Thunder recorded at 2 shows during the “The Magnificent Seventh” tour in 2005.
It’s called Rough & Ready to contrast the difference in audio quality between the two shows (one was recorded straight off the mixing desk, the other is a proper multi-track recording). Whilst the audio quality varies, the band’s performance does not…
It’s worth mentioning that several songs from TMS made their live debut on this tour, and two of them (Monkey See Monkey Do & The Gods Of Love) were seldom played afterwards, though listening to them on here, it’s hard to understand why.
The album will be released in a double gatefold 4 x CD digipack, with lots of Marty Moffatt pics all over it.
CD 1 & 2 – Rough
Recorded live straight off the mixing desk at Club Citta, Kawasaki, Japan on July 3rd 2005.
Ben sprinkled some magic fairy dust reverb on the whole thing during mastering, but there are no overdubs, no mix tweaks, nothing.
It’s a bootleg in all but name, that’s why the audience is so quiet...
CD 3 & 4 – Ready
Recorded using the Thunder Mobile at Shepherds Bush Empire, London UK on March 10th 2005.
Mixed & mastered by Ben at Chez Bez Studios, London.
Once again there are no overdubs, no fix ups etc.
CD1 - Rough
Amy's On The Run
I'm Dreaming Again
Monkey See Monkey Do
You Can't Keep A Good Man Down
Don't Wait For Me
The Gods Of Love
River Of Pain
CD2 – Rough
Until My Dying Day
Fade Into The Sun
I Love You More Than Rock 'n' Roll
She's So Fine
Low Life In High Places
A Better Man
CD3 - Ready
Amy’s On The Run
I’m Dreaming Again
Monkey See Monkey Do
You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down
Don’t Wait For Me
The Gods Of Love
CD4 – Ready
Love Walked In
Fade Into the Sun
I Love You More Than Rock 'n' Roll
A Better Man
Yes people, it’s true.
I’ve been informed today that the ex members of Thunder have agreed to reunite after almost 2 years apart, for a one off show at High Voltage Festival, at Victoria Park London on Sunday July 24th.
I’ve been asked to point out that this does not mean they’re getting back together, and there are no plans to record or release any new material. In fact Luke and Chris have asked me to stress that whilst they’re both chuffed to be doing a Thunder show, their commitment to The Union and the new album release (later this year) is undiminished, and the writing is going really well.
All ex-Thunder band members’ other activities will remain unchanged, and Harry is about to go on tour with Magnum, so this really is a one off.
Danny says: “I can’t lie, I’ve missed singing and being in the band more than I thought I would over the past couple of years, so when High Voltage called last week, I was keen to explore it, as it was great last year. We’re still releasing the new “Rough & Ready” live album, but there’s no plan to do any other recording going forwards. It will be great to play again, and we’re really excited”.
Luke says: “I thoroughly enjoyed playing at the inaugural High Voltage last year with The Union so I'm really looking forward to getting together with the rest of the boys for a one-off reunion (no pun intended). Fortunately it fitted in nicely with everything else we're doing so in the end it was difficult to say no. I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun”.
Ben says: “We’re all busy with other things, so it took a bit of discussion to ensure there were no clashes, but we got it sorted. I only live down the road, and I can’t think of a better way to spend a sunny Sunday evening, so happy days!”
This is great news, I will of course be there, as I hope will you, but there is no more information, so please don’t bombard me for info on a new studio album, tour etc.
Full festival and line up details can be found at http://www.highvoltagefestival.com/
The Thin, Excited & Can’t Wait Until July One
As mentioned a little while ago, here are some details on the new Thunder release.

The Thin Detail-Mongous One
Yes it's true, you can all stop emailing us about it now!
As promised, The End Of The Road DVD is now back in stock at Thunder shop!!
CLICK HERE to get yours now!!
The Thin Inboxed Out One
I am happy to report that Thunder Shop will soon be selling the At The End Of The Road DVD once again. It appears there was an offer of a licence deal from a label, towards the end of 2010, so when it sold out, it was deleted, the plan being that Thunder Towers would be able to report it being re-born on the new label in early 2011. Sadly, after some lengthy negotiations, a deal could not be agreed, and the talks have recently been abandoned. Ho hum..
So…. more copies have been ordered from the factory, and we’ll be putting it back on sale as soon as the new stock arrives.
Good news for those of you who have been emailing asking where you can get a copy…
Watch this space for more news, on this, and another new 4 CD live package coming soon..
Whoops, I wasn’t meant to say anything, it just slipped out, sssshhh, please don’t tell anyone…

The New Kid in Town
Royal Mail UK guidelines state that December 21st is the last posting date for UK bound packages to arrive before Xmas.
If you are a UK customer, and thinking of placing an order for merchandise or CDs/DVDs, and you want it in time for Xmas, please do it before December 19th to allow Thunder Shop Team to process and despatch it.
This does not apply to photos or presentation discs, which can take 2-3 weeks to be processed.
It would appear that orders placed as of today, with EU destinations or further afield, despite being sent out asap, will not arrive before Xmas.
Please note that Thunder Shop will close at 6pm on December 23rd, and re-open on January 3rd.
Orders received between these dates will be logged but not processed or despatched until we re-open.
We hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year..
The Thin But Soon To Be Xmas Feasting One
Yes peeps, as previously advised, sales of all things Thunder continue apace.
I can confirm today that the “At The End Of The Road” & “The Devil Went Down To Huttwil” DVDs have both sold out.
There are no plans to re-manufacture either title.
Please refrain from sobbing, all is not lost, as we still have copies of “Scenes Of The Behind”, “Thunder Go Mad In Japan” and the newly discovered “Plug It Out” in stock.
On the CD front, “The Magnificent Five Do Xmas” is now down to less than 10 copies, so please get your skates on if you want one.
The Thin But Quite Informative One
Yes peeps, since we announced stocks were low, sales of all Thunder items have gone a bit mad, and it’s been a bit hectic here in the bowels of Thunder Towers. Stocks of The Devil Went Down to Huttwil DVD, the At The End Of The Road DVD, and The Magnificent Five Do Xmas are all down to single figures, so all 3 will soon be gone (though TM5DX will soon be available via download, the DVDs will be deleted).
Conversely, a few boxes of the Plug It Out DVD have been discovered this morning inside one of Harry’s old flight cases, so we’re assuming they must have come back from a tour. They’re all sealed and in perfect condition, so we’re happy to put that title back on sale, along with the associated bundle deals.
I really must get round to having a good look in all the nooks and crannies here, who knows what I may find..
The Thin Exploratory One
Firstly a big thanks to all of you who've been so positive and supportive of The Union. When Thunder stopped I have to admit to feeling a little unsure about the future. It wasn't until Pete and I decided to start a band together that things started to make sense and from that moment we've gone from strength to strength thanks largely to all of you!
Only last week your votes went a very long way to helping us win 'Best New Band' at this year's Classic Rock Roll of Honour so once again we are in your debt!
As you probably know Thunder have been involved with the charity Childline Rocks for a few years now and the association has resulted in a couple of great shows at the Indigo2 as well as me getting a very sore bottom in Egypt (but we won't go there for now)! As The Union we're going to continue the tradition by donating all net profits from our new single 'This Time Next Year' to Childline Rocks and we'd be extremely grateful if once again, you would show your support by buying the single and spreading the word as widely as possible. There's also a great competition for the more outgoing amongst you! Go here for all the relevant details and don't forget to shout it from the rooftops;
Once again a BIG THANK YOU from me, Pete and everybody at Childline Rocks.
Have a great Christmas and we'll see you on the road next year!!
Following our recent announcement, Thunder Shop has just sold out of the “Plug It Out” DVD, and no more will be manufactured, so it is deleted, effective today. The associated DVD Bundles previously sold via Thunder Shop have therefore been removed also. Fear not folks, as a new Medium DVD Bundle has been introduced for those looking for a nice price for 3 Thunder DVDs. Don’t hang about though, as I’m told stocks of “The Devil Went Down To Huttwil” will also soon be gone, along with the new Medium DVD Bundle of course…
The Thin Packaging One
Yes peeps, I bring both good and bad news..
The good news is that sales of Thunder CDs and DVDs have continued, despite the band no longer being active.
The bad news is that once they’re gone they’re gone...
Some titles are fast approaching sold out status, so as we will not be re-manufacturing more copies, we thought we’d let you know that whilst the CDs will be available via download, the DVDs will be deleted.
Titles on their last legs are as follows:-
DD2006-2 - The Magnificent 5 Do Xmas CD
STC2004-2 – Plug It Out DVD
STC2007-4 – The Devil Went Down To Huttwil DVD
STC2009-8 - At The End Of The Road DVD
If you’re thinking of buying any of the above, please do it sharpish to avoid disappointment, as it’s slim pickings in the stock room at Thunder Towers...
The Thinly Stocked One
Yes Peeps, The Thin One here with a couple of snippets of news from Thunder Towers.
Danny whips out his microphone again (briefly)
Danny has asked me to let you know that he will be making a guest appearance at Dave “Bucket” Colwell’s “Bucket & Co” album launch show at The Purple Turtle in Camden London on November 9th. He will sing 3 songs.
Dave will be showcasing the songs from his new album, and his band will feature the following musicians:-
Paul Guerin (Quireboys) - guitar, Benjy Reid (Praying Mantis/Ted Nugent) – Drums, PJ Phillips (Rod Stewart/others) – Bass, Dick Young (ASAP) – Keys & Ronan Kavanagh on Vocals.
The irrepressible Spike from the QUIREBOYS wil be making a guest vocal appearance, as will Tracie Hunter.
Terry Marshall will join in on saxophone, along with Judd Lander on harmonica.
More Free Thunder Downloads
As part of an ongoing process of improvements since launching the new site, I’m quite pleased to announce that as of today, six more live Thunder tunes are now available to download free via Music Glue. The songs are:-
· You'll Still Need A Friend (from Rock City Case #2)
· Love Worth Dying For (from The Magnificent Five Do Xmas)

Watch this space peeps, the band may be gone, but the name goes on, there’ll be more news soon…
The Thin News Tastic One...
After a great deal of soul searching, I am very sad to announce that the rest of the band and I have decided to pull out of The 80s Rocked Tour. I’m not at liberty to go into the detail as to why, as there could be legal ramifications if I do.
We are told by the organisers that the tour will still go ahead, with another band stepping in to take our place.
We have no more information on this, so if you have questions or queries, I can only suggest you contact management at www.the80srocked.co.uk or via the Facebook page.
We would like to send our most profound apologies to fans and ticket buyers for any disappointment and inconvenience caused by our non-appearance. This is not a decision we made lightly, we simply felt we had no choice.
Yes people, it’s been a bit of a while coming, in fact quite a long while really, but after much tweaking and fiddling about, we are pleased to announce that we finally have 24 of Mr Marty Moffatt’s most splendid Thunder tour photographs up on sale at Thunder Shop.
Taken during the band’s farewell tour in July 2009, we think you’ll agree these are cracking.
They’re available as bespoke prints on seriously high quality photo paper, or for the more exotic (and rich) amongst you, printed directly on to canvas. These are not cheap items, but the prices truly reflect the quality of the prints.
We hope you like them, we do.

The Thin & Fabulously Underexposed One
As some of you may have noticed, we had problems with the site crashing several times over the weekend.
We originally thought that it may be our new look site that was causing the issues, but it turned out that it was completely unrelated - just bad timing! Our mail server was actually struggling to cope and was not only crashing itself but also took the whole site with it. Nice...
This issue has now been resolved, however, if you have tried to contact us over the weekend there is a chance that we may not have received your email. If there is anything important that you feel we may be missing please resend your message in the usual way...
Thanks to you all for your patience, and also for all the nice comments we have received about the new look. We are all very pleased that you like it!
The Thin Relieved One
Welcome to the re-vamped, bright shiny new Official Thunder Web Site.
The band may not be together any more, but the name goes on, and we thought it was time for a bit of an overhaul, so we’ve re-designed it, kept the regular favourite stuff, and added some new features.
It’s been a bit of a labour of love, so we hope you like it.
The Thin Brand New Bright And Shiny One
I have been informed that Danny will make his first live appearance for over a year on September the 11th, with Thunder chums The Jones Gang.
Having not sung live since Thunder’s last show at Sonisphere (August 2009), Danny says he has been experiencing (and I quote) “a serious craving for a chirp up”. Enter long time Thunder mucker Dave Colwell, when they ran into each other at the High Voltage Festival in July.
This need to chirp was discussed, and a plan was duly hatched, followed by a smash up in Kenney’s barn a week or so later, and serious smiles all round..
The Jones Gang features Kenney Jones (The Small Faces, The Faces, The Who), Rick Wills (Foreigner), Dave Colwell (Bad Company), along with Josh Phillips & Nick Cook (sorry don’t know much about them).
The show will take place at the very splendid Hurtwood Park Polo Club in Ewhurst Surrey (full details below), where they will take a stroll through the 60s and 70s, playing some of their favourite tunes by The Small Faces, The Faces, Rod Stewart, The Who, Bad Company etc etc.
Full details are as follows:-
Date: Saturday 11th September
Venue: Hurtwood Park Polo Club
Address: Horsham Lane, Ewhurst, Surrey GU6 7SW
Tickets: £15 in advance / £25 on day
Box office: 01483 272828
Sounds like a good night to me..
That’s all folks..

As a group of people to whom I owe a great deal (not least of all my house!), I wanted to bring you up to date on what has been a very busy and happy year for me musically.
Our first album together as The Union (cunningly titled ‘The Union’!) is released this week on our own ‘Payola’ label and, although I know some of you have already got your hands a copy, there’s probably still a few of you who haven’t. If you’re one of the ones who haven’t, may I politely suggest you get yourself over to The Union's official website immediately where you can listen to the album in it’s entirety with no obligation. You’ll also find tracks to download and links to our Facebook, You Tube and My Space pages there.
If you like what you hear you might also want to pick yourself up a couple of tickets to our UK tour in September and October (we’d love to see you there)
Danny Bowes and Harry James have recently collaborated with old friend and former Bad Company guitarist Dave “Bucket” Colwell. Danny performs lead vocals on the song ‘Life’ and Harry is the featured drummer on the album, ‘Guitars, Beers & Tears’ which is due for release on August 17, 2010 on the AAO Music / Reality label in the US and Canada. Alongside Danny and Harry, Bucket also enlisted the help of members of Iron Maiden, The New York Dolls, Bad Company, The Quireboys and Edwin McCain.

The new tee seems to have gone down very well with you, as you have been ordering it in your droves.
There have been some comments regarding a lack of shall we say the more “generous” sizes, and many have asked for a skinny too. These comments have been passed on to Loud Clothing, who have responded immediately by adding them. Nice guys..
Check them out at www.loudclothing.com/thunder
The Thin & Responsive One
Loud Clothing approached Thunder Towers some time ago, wanting to do a Thunder Tee. It was respectfully pointed out that Thunder was no longer active, but they said they knew that, and weren’t concerned. They pointed out that having a new shirt out there will help keep the music alive. After a bit of head scratching, it was decided that they may not be quite as mad as they seemed, and were invited to come up with a design. The result was this:-
We like it… very much…
As this is the first time we’ve allowed someone else to make and sell a Thunder shirt for many years, we’ve stressed the need for a top notch item.
The sample we got was great, and we’ve been assured the quality of both the shirt and the print will be high.
If you buy one and find that is not the case, please let us know.
If you’d like one, you can get it here:-
Note: This tee will not be available to buy at Thunder Shop.
That’s all folks..
The Thin Loving The Slightly Faded Look One
Yes peeps, it’s true, several boxes of seriously old vintage Thunder stuff has been discovered in the vaults at Thunder Towers.
We’re talking ski hats (Laughing On Judgement Day circa 1992), caps (Behind Closed Doors circa 1995), Thunderwear (that’s knickers to you – SATS 2003), necklaces (BCD 95) and some Logo tees from 2003...
All of it is original authentic stock left over from past tours, but apart from the slightly musty whiff and bit of sticky tape glue here and there (ski hats – comes off in the wash), it’s all as new.
The rest will be added in due course, once it’s all been quality checked, but the caps and the hat are up on Thunder Shop now, and they’re cheap!
It’s first come first served, so be quick, click here to get your vintage Thunder head wear bargain…
